About... Our Instructions

We offer two kinds of kits: Weave Kits (Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced) and Project Kits (Apprentice, Journeyman and Master).

Weave Kit Instruction Books

The Weave Kit instruction books are longer, more complex, detailed, and heavily photo illustrated. They contain a lot of information beyond what's required to simply teach the weave. Instruction books of this caliber, glossy, full color and spiral bound with wire -- which is the most costly form of binding commonly available but is, in our opinion, absolutely necessary for an involved instruction book so that it stays open flat while your hands are busy -- are obviously more expensive to produce than other forms of instructional material. By teaching the most complicated member of each weave family in this primary way, we lay the groundwork for teaching the other members of each weave family as simple variations.

Project Kit Instruction Booklets

Project Kits are the smaller, less complex kits we offer to teach those secondary variations. They require prior knowledge of a specific weave because they don't teach the primary weave, they just teach what's needed in addition to that knowledge. While Project Kit booklets are also glossy, full color and illustrated with a combination of photos and photo real 3D renders, because the level of instruction is less complex, the requirements are less intensive so they're smaller format, saddle stitched (stapled at the spine) booklets rather than full size, spiral wire bound books. Although lovely, detailed and fully functional, these booklets are far less costly to produce. By structuring our kits this way, we're able to keep the costs of Project Kits much lower than they would be if they were stand alone kits that didn't require prior weave knowledge. One Weave Kit thereby provides the foundation of knowledge for as many inexpensive variations as we have available and you find appealing.

Incidentally, we do not sell our instructions alone. If you're interested in why, the reasons are detailed in this segment of our FAQ.

New Expanded Weave Kit Instruction Books

We're in the process of upgrading the instruction books included in our Beginning and Intermediate Weave Kits from the original, black and white, heavy matte paper edition shown below to our new, full color, heavy gloss paper edition. Both editions are wire bound for ease of use but the new edition features greatly expanded information including suggested ring sizes for heavier and more delicate versions of the weave, as well as additional photos and information regarding possible variations of the weave.

As each new edition becomes available, that fact will be noted in the detailed information for the kit and the price of the kit will increase slightly to cover the cost of this significant upgrade in value. When the instruction books have been upgraded for all the Weave Kits, we'll introduce a program for upgrading from the original books to the new books for everyone who purchased kits prior to the change. The cost of the upgrade will match the price increase of the kit when it includes the new edition so the costs are the same whether you wait for the new edition to purchase the kit or purchase a kit now with the original edition and upgrade the instruction book when it becomes available. Currently, only the instruction books for the Beginning Weaves have been upgraded.
