Half Persian 4-in-1 w/Square Rings

Shaped rings are a recent addition to our product line so our Weave Gallery information and recommendations are quite limited. We're adding to our recommendations as quickly as testing allows but in the meantime, please use the following notes to help you estimate the best size where no recommendation is given.
Square rings take up more room than round ones of the same size because of the corners. Whether a larger inside diameter is needed, though, depends on the weave. Square rings take more time and care to close well than do round ones. The slightest misalignment or pringling shows. With smooth edged flatnose pliers, it's fairly easy to avoid scarring the metal though it might not be so easy with pliers that are sharp edged or very pointy.
This weave doesn't seem to need much extra room in square but because Half Persian 4-in-1 can tolerate a little extra wiggle room without losing its beauty, it's safest to go with a slightly larger inside diameter if you aren't sure. Square rings make a slightly thicker chain but not much thicker; there's only a half millimeter's difference in thickness between the round and square versions in 14g using the same ring size. Flexibility is slightly reduced but not enough to matter.
Please keep in mind that these demonstration pieces were all made with our traditional sterling rings and our recommendations are based on those tests. Argentium sterling wire is slightly softer and copper wire is softer still so due to decreased springback, finished rings in those materials are the tiniest bit smaller than traditional sterling rings and therefore might not substitute well in the most snug fitting designs described below. Specific information on those materials is listed as soon as it's available but in the meantime, test the materials yourself or avoid using them when a particular ring size is described as being a tight fit for the weave. Our 18K gold rings are harder than sterling, making the rings ever so slightly larger so this is not an issue that affects them. Please keep in mind that our ring size recommendations apply perfectly to rings that we make but cannot and should not be assumed to apply to rings made by anyone else and certainly not to metals we don't even use.
